Planned Giving
Plan your gift today, for tomorrow.
You can provide for the future needs of our mission by naming the Lowcountry Food Bank Foundation as a beneficiary in your estate plans. A legacy gift will ensure that the Lowcountry Food Bank can keep its promise to put food on the table for those in need for years to come. Explore the benefits of gift planning, including life income gifts, gift annuities, mutual funds, real estate, and life insurance.

The Lowcountry Food Bank has for many years been the primary focus of my charitable activities. From managing a partner agency, to serving on the Board of Directors, to leading the organization, I know how very effective the Food Bank is in addressing food insecurity in the 10 counties it serves. As I look to leave a planned gift to Lowcountry Food Bank Foundation, I know that it will ensure both the capacity and impact of the Food Bank for years to come.
Other Ways to Give
Beneficiary Designations
Did you know that there are additional assets not covered in a standard will or trust? If you have an IRA, 401(k), life insurance policy, or any additional accounts, these are called “non-probate assets” and they need to be planned for separately. Using this online tool, you can log all of your assets, name Lowcountry Food Bank as a beneficiary to strengthen missions and vocations, and receive printable instructions on how to set each one up with your broker.
Bequests
Many people who create estate plans choose to leave a gift to a cause they care about. FreeWill works with more than 600+ nonprofits as a no-cost estate planning tool that makes it easy for supporters to give and simpler for organizations to receive.
LCFB has partnered with FreeWill to make a real-time impact for people facing hunger in the Lowcountry. If you are considering a legacy gift, stock donation, or qualified charitable distribution to LCFB, FreeWill is a simple tool that can be used to create these important documents. All estate plans made using FreeWill are 100% legal and specifically tailored to you and your wishes.

Give from your IRA/QCD
Supporters 70.5 or older with a traditional IRA are eligible to make a potential tax-free donation to the Lowcountry Food Bank. These gifts are tax-free, regardless of whether or not you itemize deductions on your tax return. If you are 72 years old or older, these gifts can even count towards fulfilling your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) for the calendar year.
Make a Tribute
Making a gift to the Lowcountry Food Bank in someone’s honor or memory is a gift that keeps on giving. Each dollar given to the Lowcountry Food Bank can help provide up to six meals for someone in our community who is struggling with hunger. A gift as a tribute is a perfect way to honor or remember someone’s birthday, wedding, anniversary or holiday!
