Walk to Fight Hunger

On Sunday, September 22, 2024, join Lowcountry Food Bank at Wannamaker Park for a fun-filled day of action and awareness! Let’s gather as a community and walk to fight hunger! Bring the whole family – furry family members are welcome! Walk options will include a 5k nature trail or a paved 1-mile family friendly loop. All are welcome to join us on this meaningful day!

Where: The Tupelo Shelter at Wannamaker Park, 8888 University Blvd, North Charleston, SC 29406

When: Sunday, September 22, 11a.m. – 2p.m. Check in at Tupelo Shelter begins at 10:30a.m.

Cost to Register: Register for free or register with a $25 donation and receive one commemorative WTFH T-shirt.

Sponsorship opportunities: Sponsorship packages are available that range from $250-$5,000 and include unique benefits. Sponsors provide valuable support to ensure the success of the Walk to Fight Hunger!

Where will the Walk to Fight Hunger take place?

The Walk to Fight Hunger will take place at Wannamaker Park at the Tupelo Shelter located at 8888 University Blvd, North Charleston. We will have signs leading you to the right location!

Is there a fee to enter the park?

There is a nominal fee of $2 per a person or free with a Gold Pass to enter the event. If you have a large group and would like to purchase in advance please call the Park & Program Services at (843) 795-4386 and they can be mailed to you or picked up day of the event.

Will food and water be provided?

Complimentary water and light refreshments will be available to participants. To help encourage sustainability, we encourage participants to bring a reusable water bottle. Water stations will be available.

What if it rains?

The Lowcountry Food Bank will pay close attention to the weather pattern leading up to the event and will adjust as needed. This event will take place rain or shine, however, if conditions appear threatening, we will notify all registrants and sponsors and update our social media the morning of the event.

What is the event timeline?

This event will take place on Sunday, September 22, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

10:30 a.m. – Check in at Tupelo Shelter begins

11:00 a.m. – Event begins

12:15 p.m. – Walk begins

1:30 p.m. – Awards & closing remarks

What are the walking routes and how long are they?

The Walk to Fight Hunger will have a paved, 1-mile family friendly loop and a 5k path that is partially paved or wooded trails. See the map below for details.

Can I still walk if I want to arrive late? What if I only want to attend for the activities?

Of course! Participants are welcome to walk either route and take part in activities at their own pace and leisure.
