Join us for our 2026 Walk to Fight Hunger on Saturday, September 26!

Together, we will take steps to ensure our neighbors across coastal South Carolina have consistent access to nutritious food. All funds raised support Lowcountry Food Bank’s programs and services. Held each September in honor of Hunger Action Month, this family-friendly event brings our community together to raise awareness and critical funds for Lowcountry Food Bank. $1 helps create 3 meals for local children, families, and seniors who face food insecurity.

Where: The Tupelo Shelter at Wannamaker Park, 8888 University Blvd, North Charleston, SC 29406

When: Saturday, September 26, 2026; 10:30am – 1:30pm

Registration: Register for free or with a $25 donation to receive a commemorative Walk to Fight Hunger t-shirt. Individual and Team options are available.

Walk Length: The Walk is a two-mile interactive loop. Signage will be posted throughout the route to guide walkers.

Sponsorship: Sponsorship opportunities are available that range from $500 to $5,000. All funds raised support Lowcountry Food Bank’s programs and services.

Where will the Walk to Fight Hunger take place?

The Walk to Fight Hunger will take place at Wannamaker Park at the Tupelo Shelter located at 8888 University Blvd, North Charleston. We will have signs leading you to the right location!

Is there a fee to enter Wannamaker Park?

No! The typical $2 park entry fee is included in our event facility rental, so Walk to Fight Hunger participants will not need to pay to enter the park on the day of the event.

Will food and water be provided?

Complimentary water and light refreshments will be available to participants. To help encourage sustainability, we encourage participants to bring a reusable water bottle. Water stations will be available.

What if it rains?

The Lowcountry Food Bank will pay close attention to the weather pattern leading up to the event and will adjust as needed. This event will take place rain or shine, however, if conditions appear threatening, we will notify all registrants and sponsors and update our social media the morning of the event.

What is the event timeline?

  • 10:30 a.m.: Check-in opens. Vendors and activities begin.
  • 11:45 a.m.: Walk warm-up
  • 12:00 p.m.: Walk begins (2-mile loop)
  • 12:45 p.m.: Awards and closing remarks. Participants can continue to take part in event activities.
  • 1:30 p.m.: Event concludes

How long is the walk route?

The Walk to Fight Hunger is a 2-mile loop.

Can I still walk if I want to arrive late? What if I only want to attend for the activities?

Of course! Participants are welcome to walk and take part in activities at their own pace and leisure.
