Community Cares

The government may be shut down, but Lowcountry Food Bank remains here for our community.

Beginning November 1, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), which supports more than 550,000 South Carolinians, will be suspended due to the government shutdown.

Most SNAP recipients are seniors, families with children, and individuals with disabilities. This suspension not only raises concerns for thousands of South Carolinians who already face challenges to consistently afford basic monthly essentials and nourishing food for their family – but it also means LCFB must fill the gap. Furthermore, government employees and contractors continue to work without pay.

Lowcountry Food Bank will continue to be there for our community. Meeting this challenge requires all of us. Now more than ever, we need to stand united to ensure that no one in the 10 coastal counties we serve goes without the nourishing food they need to thrive. Make a gift today.

🍽️ Alert: Thousands of government employees and contractors are going without pay due to the government shutdown. Lowcountry Food Bank and our 240+ partner agencies have already seen a surge in demand for food assistance from neighbors, and the need is expected to grow. Please make a gift today.
