Walk to Fight Hunger
The Walk to Fight Hunger is a family-friendly event that aims to raise awareness of food insecurity in our community and funds for the Lowcountry Food Bank to support our programs that help address food insecurity throughout the 10 coastal counties of SC.
This event will help fund key Lowcountry Food Bank programs, including:
- Senior and Veteran Meals
- Child Hunger Programs
- Fresh Produce Initiatives for Our Community
The Lowcountry Food Bank serves the 10 coastal counties of South Carolina and distributed more than 39 million pounds of food, water and essential products in 2020. The Lowcountry Food Bank helps fight hunger by distributing food through nearly 300 partner agencies including on-site meal programs, homeless shelters and emergency food pantries. The Lowcountry Food Bank advocates on behalf of those who experience hunger and helps empower people to make healthy and nutritious food choices.
* IMPORTANT UPDATE *
The Lowcountry Food Bank is holding a “hybrid” walk event that aims to bring awareness to hunger issues in coastal South Carolina and raise funds for Lowcountry Food Bank programs, including Senior Meals, Childhood Hunger programs, and fresh produce options for the community.
The Lowcountry Food Bank Walk to Fight Hunger, presented by Charles River, will take place on Sunday, September 19 from noon – 4 p.m. at Riverfront Park in North Charleston.
Because of the recent increase in COVID-19 cases, the Walk to Fight Hunger will be a “hybrid” walk event.
Donors and friends are encouraged to drop into the park and participate in a self-guided walking tour at their own pace and comfort level. Guests will receive an informational packet to accompany their self-guided tour.
In addition, Lowcountry Food Bank will also host a “drive-thru” food drive at the event. Participants are encouraged to bring non-perishable canned proteins, canned fruits and canned vegetables (low-sodium, low-sugar). Canned items can be safely donated from their vehicle. Baby diapers, baby wipes, and adult diapers are also needed.
Pick your own – go your won pace! Walk to Fight Hunger gives you the option to walk where and when you want on event day. Walk your neighborhood or favorite trail, your local park or your air-conditioned treadmill. Walk alone or with family and friends. It’s all up to you!
